The focal point of trade show displays no longer seems to revolve around explaining why one company’s product is better than another company’s similar product. As a result, pitching a product or demo is no longer as imperative a priority for many companies. Instead, today’s most important trade show display trend seems to focus on how strong of an impression is left on an attendee or potential customer.
One of the most underestimated items in a trade show booth display is furniture. Furniture makes a statement to attendees and invites them to take a closer look. The most successful trade show displays have designer furniture and custom-made tables to accessorize the rest of the booth. It is a way to really amp up a potentially boring trade show space.
Having a furniture presence is not only a visual advantage, but also a functional advantage. Since the larger shows happen only once a year and bring in major companies from all over the nation and the world, it is crucial to optimize your time as an exhibitor. A simply set up of a table with chairs can mean the difference between making and losing a deal. Furniture provides intimacy and comfort, two things that are hard to find on the trade show floor. It can act as an oasis from the chaos and provide one on one time with clients and potential customers. You can always generate leads from standing in front of your booth and swiping attendee’s badges, but with a furniture grouping you have the ability to sit down and actually do business, sales presentations and even sign contracts.
Any size booth can be benefited by the presence of furniture. It can be as simple as two chairs with a coffee or end table, or a high boy with barstools and a love seat with matching chairs and table. There is a variety of furniture out there that will accommodate any space restrictions. Cubed or cylinder ottomans are versatile pieces. They can be used for seating, but can easily be moved or stacked to make additional room if need be. Of course the icing on the cake is all of the branding opportunities that come with furniture. There are multitudes of ways to make sure that your company name or logo is displayed for all to see. Tables, pedestals, pillows are among some of the items that can be customized.
It only takes a little time and a little expense to implement a big wow factor to your trade show booth set up. Incorporating furnishings to your booth can take you from good to great. Special multi-day pricing is available for convention rentals to ensure value optimization.

Last Tuesday November 17th, The National Geographic Society hosted the UPS and P.F. Chang’s sponsored event with 250 guests to launch the new “Terra Cotta Warriors: Guardians of China’s First Emperor” exhibit at the National Geographic Museum in Washington DC. The event was hosted in the museums cafeteria which was transformed into an inspirational Chinese era with gorgeous drapery, textures and colors, this tented event captured the “The Emperor’s Lounge” theme just perfect. The tent was complimented with Room Service Furniture and Events Rental’s Valentina Day Bed and Cabana Bed which matched the theme perfectly. Many local restaurants donated food as well, such as Mie N Yu, TenPehn, Hong Kong Palace, and P.F. Chang’s focusing on Asian delicacies. The Food Network’s Ace of Cakes baker Duff Goldman of Baltimore’s Charm City Bakery made an appearance to cut a piece out of the shoulder of his three-foot-tall terra cotta warrior cake, with camera crew in tow filming for an episode of the show, slated to air in April. The Exhibit opened to the public November 19th and seems to be a great hit accenting 15 ancient, life-size terra cotta figures from the famed tomb of Qin Shihuangdi. We are extremely proud to be a part of such an event, and very excited our furniture was able to help transform a cafeteria into such an elegant Emperor’s Lounge.

Brides Florida just published a style review which really caught our eye. Their article focused on “backlash imminent” – styles that are wrapping up, “reaching critical mass” – the trends that are on their way to becoming mainstream, and “the next big thing”- what they want to see more of. This article caught our eye because we cannot wait to see our furniture be thrown into the mix.
Wedding color schemes are taking a turn from lovely to lively! Turquoise and red vibrant gender neutral combo is really taking off, while the next big thing takes claim to be a Tangerine orange and Cobalt blue comb, a strong, fresh, and modern look.
Another new trend that will be hitting the bridal scene is dressing the wedding party all in white. In ancient roman times evil spirits wanted to harm the bride so the bridesmaids all dressed in the same color as the bride to confuse the spirits. Now the style looks incredibly elegant in photos showcasing the “upscale estate” look, why not use all white furniture for an all white ancient roman style wedding!
We will be seeing more multiple wedding cakes opposed to the towering wedding cakes that seem to be predictable at every affair. Brides Florida says to trade it in for several small, simple cakes placed on cake stands. Our Serpentine Buffet Table is just the perfect asset to a wedding cake display of any size and shape! Be sure to check out our website for all other Furniture needs!

We are excited share what a great success the Room Service DC Showcase Event was on Tuesday, November 3rd. We partnered with the recently opened Long View Gallery near Mt. Vernon Square for our annual event. We are proud to say it went amazing, with over two hundred and fifty attendees, great sponsors, a beautiful venue, complimented by many of our gorgeous furniture, it was an amazing night!
We want to thank everyone who came out with such huge support. We hope everyone got a chance to see our unique furniture, and the impact they have on transforming any event. A special thanks to trendy DJ by NYX Entertainment, Janet Flowers for beautiful floral arrangements, outstanding catering by RSVP Catering, great rental equipment by Perfect Settings, drinks made with Grey Goose and Martini & Rossi, Lighting by JBV Productions, Valet by Atlantic, video by Suburban Video, outstanding photography by Imijination, a photo booth by Poshbooth, a raffle that included gifts from Red Door Spas, St. Regis, Newseum, Redskins and Coco Sala.
Doreen Tisone of Engaged Magazine, covered our First Annual Room Service DC Event and had this to say:
“Room Service rolled out the red carpet for their guests last night and gave a wonderful party! Heidi was a lovely hostess in a cute little cocktail number, meeting everyone as they came into the gallery. What a fabulous event site! Long View Gallery – I felt like I had walked into a chic Greenwich gallery in New York. This is will be a hot place in town to have an event. They can do 400 for a cocktail party and about 150 seated. A huge windowed door off the back of the space rolls up to an exposed brick patio. Room Service had wicker seating set up with patio heaters scattered around. RSVP did the a great job with the food. There were passed h’or d’oeuvres food and stations. In the center of the space was a small stage from which NYX Entertainment provided music for the evening. Janet Flowers had beautiful florals all over the venue. Seemed like every one was there.”
Thank you to Doreen Tison of Engage Magazine for the support, as well as all of our sponsors. We couldn’t have done it without you all, and we hope everyone enjoyed our first annual DC showcase!
